Colorado Bridals

The Couple

Mitchell + Macie

The snow-covered Flatirons and foggy winter day made the perfect backdrop for Macie + Mitchell’s Boulder, Colorado bridals. Brekka Hartman Photography met these two love birds in college and captured every detail of their beautiful wedding day.

The Proposal

We had been dating for a while and my high maintenance self had to be involved in every step of customizing the ring. I knew a proposal was coming up since we had talked about it a bunch, but I had to give Mitchell a few rules first: 1.)My nails have to be done 2.) You need my dad’s blessing 3.) It has to be photographed 4.) I have to be surprised.

Mitchell had asked for my dads blessing a week prior, and I knew he had the ring, so I had a strong feeling it was coming up very soon. I knew for sure it was happening when my mom insisted I get my nails done and Mitchell told me, “I needed to come down for the weekend because his sister had a rodeo event she wanted me to attend.” I was very excited for that rodeo!

Mitchell lives on a golf course so he took me to the country club that evening and opened the door for me. He led me to a romantic table with a rose in front of a fireplace. His brother was our waiter and poured us Martinelli’s. He was being cheesy and formal – it was as if we were on the Bachelor or something. Mitchell was sweating, acting weird, his eyes were dilated and he would not stop looking at the window behind me and smiling – it was his siblings trying to make him laugh. We finally got our food and he didn’t touch it even though he’s a person who will devour a meal in minutes. I picked at my food too because I was so anxious for what was next.

I finally said I was done and Mitchell asked to look at the baby ducks outside. It was pouring rain and he led me to the patio outside facing the beautiful golf course. I looked down and immediately saw a bunch of rose petals, looked to my left and there was a table with candles and a sign facing down. I instantly said, “Yes yes yes!!! Of course! Yes!” And Mitchell says, “Not yet! You have to read the sign!” I flipped it over and sure enough, it said, “Will you marry me?” in big beautiful calligraphic letters. I anxiously said “YES!” Jumping up and down and he said, “Hold on! I have to get down on one knee first!” He popped the question and I said yes for the millionth time. I hadn’t seen my ring yet and was so anxious to see my vision come to life. It was everything and more and the most perfect day. His siblings were also there to document it so we have pictures of the intimate moment forever.
