Planning a wedding, or any celebration for that matter, is the perfect time to let your imagination run wild. Whether you’re planning a wedding, engagement party or simply a celebration of love, it’s important to plan something that speaks to who you are as a couple. Realm, a magical and malleable event and studio space in Denver, Colorado is the perfect location to bring any Pinterest or mood board to life. Just a few weeks ago, Realm, along with some of the most talented wedding vendors in town hosted a two-night event to showcase just how the venue can transform to any client’s vision. Below we’re sharing an inside peek into the event, plus some inspiration behind the installs and more.
We hope these photos inspire you to host the celebration of your dreams and along the way perhaps find and hire some incredible vendors within our Colorado community.
Design Concept
Kendra, owner of KCIDY, described the concept of FEEL SOMETHING as:
Often entertainment for a celebration can be easily overlooked. Perhaps you think a playlist is enough, but a professional DJ, musician, etc. can truly bring a party to life. Manos Sounds and The Get Down were brought in for this magical event to help guests let loose. EB, owner of Realm, said “We elevated the DJ with a double step staging, customized an acrylic booth with lights, & suspended a focal point above to create a character for the DJ to set. the. mood. With 2 of the best DJs in town for each night, the dance floor was set to entertain & the crowd was left with no choice other than to FEEL SOMETHING.”
Guests love an interactive party. Mingling and small talk is fine, but give them something to TALK ABOUT! Kaitlin with Kaitlin Shea Weddings did this by bringing in a real life tattoo artist. She made the space feel like a real tattoo parlor with neon light, a wall of trinkets, and Takashi Murakami inspired art.
Would you be BOLD enough to get a tattoo on a whim?
Maybe an impromptu tattoo shop isn’t for you, but think about a hat bar, or coed kickball game at your rehearsal dinner.
Some might say this is the most important part of any well hosted event. And, well, we might have to agree! The goal at FEEL SOMETHING was to create a food and beverage experience that was memorable, playful, and even, unexpected. Of course, the cocktails below were created specifically for this event — as they should be for any event! For the cocktail recipes and more details on this aspect of the party, click here.
Who doesn’t love a good dance party? While most of us love to get down on the dance floor, it’s key to have a place for guests to sit down, enjoy a cocktail and mingle with others. Conversation is the heart and soul of any event. Keely, of Keely AF Events, worked with Mari, of Territory West, to design & curate a lounge specifically for this event. They went with a blend of Postmodern and mid-century furniture pieces sourced by Territory West for an eclectic yet refined feel. The deep color palette, textured details and vintage accessories is what drew guests into the lounge to relax and sip on delicious sips!
FEEL SOMETHING was an excuse to step outside the box and do something most clients won’t take the risk for their own event. But, hopefully this will inspire more couples and creators to “feel” and design an event that truly speaks to them. Kendra, owner of KCIDY, said, “I wanted to create a juxtaposition of underground meets elevated. Everyone loves to be invited to a “secret” party with hidden creative moments that make you FEEL some type of way. With some of the best DJs in Denver, moody lighting, epic art installs & interactive moments, we knew we could achieve just that.”
