The Couple

Sarah + Josh

The Wedding

“Sarah & Josh started their engagement by choosing a meaningful date and place for their nuptials. As a child, Sarah moved often and Vail was always a special place that felt like home – where she came back time and time again with family. So much so, that the ceremony florals were inspired by a childhood photo of Sarah in Vail, amongst the wildflowers when she was just a toddler! The date was meaningful too – the couple chose to get married on the anniversary of Josh’s father passing 16 years ago.  They took this as a fateful sign and the two scooped up the date immediately. The awe inspiring heavenly views, and fateful moments on their wedding day were front and center.  Following first looks on the Camp’s iconic bridge, the two enjoyed a jeep tour and a picnic of cheese and bubbly on the mountain. Gentle sprinkles of rain started over the mountain just as the ceremony began, but the clouds parted and rain stopped just as Sarah and her father walked down the aisle to Shania Twain’s Still the One, lead in by her flower pup Winnie. Josh held back tears as she walked down the aisle, his eyes closed tightly – later, we learned this was their silent way of saying “I love you.” – something they did often.  Josh wore a hat with a wolf branded on it, in honor of his late father. Their close family member Wes married them among the mountains where they planted a seed together to signify their union. Guests moved to cocktail hour, enjoying an oxygen bar and signature sunset sips including “the hills are alive” gin and lavender cocktails – a tone to match the bride’s heirloom amethyst earrings and the dusty Colorado sunset.  As they moved to the tent, guests were given “brown paper packages tied up with string” filled with locally made chocolate truffles and their seating assignments. At the reception, each guest was also gifted with an amethyst (a CO must!) for good vibes. Sarah danced with her dad to the iconic Sound of Music song “Edelweiss” and then the couple cut their cake (which matched Sarah’s dress) while simultaneously signing their marriage license – a family tradition! But quite possibly the best part of the night was Josh’s impromptu performance with the band to ‘Friends in Low Places” and the brides quick change to her cowboy boots before she cheered him on. The two ended the night with a private dance to “Tennessee Whiskey” before running through their sparkler exit and off into the sunset.”
