Tyler and I have known each other since middle school and had been dating for about 7 years when we got engaged in 2018 in Lake Louise. We’ve always loved the outdoors, with hiking and exploring being one of our favourite things to do together at any time of the year. After planning a fair-sized wedding to take place in the Fall of 2019 we realized that it just wasn’t something that suited us or made us really excited. We scrapped the idea in May and everything for our intimate wedding at Emerald Lake seemed to fall into place. We found Emerald online and just knew from photos and stories other couples shared this was the right place for us, especially because of how inclusive their elopement package was and of course those killer views. We booked sight unseen and I don’t regret that choice in the slightest. After booking the lodge, all our other vendors fell into place. As for the details, I guess we wanted something that felt romantic and tied into the surroundings. I chose my gown because I felt it reflected both some elements of nature (like the beautiful beaded leaves!) and because it had the perfect bohemian feel without losing the idea of a wedding gown. My earrings were also chosen to reflect the design in the gown as well as the hairpiece I wore. I wanted to just amp the lookup subtly without distracting from any specific part. Tyler’s attire was much the same, we wanted to keep it casual but add a bit of whimsy with certain elements.
