Alex + Alex
These guys really did prove that two Alex’s are better than one for their wedding on their parent’s property in Okotoks. They spent many weekends over the past 8 years on here with friends, creating memories. For this reason it was the perfect place for them to have a big beautiful wedding! Walking around the property on the morning of the wedding we could see this place was made for an outdoor party. Right as you drove in the land sloped down towards the lake, making a natural ampitheatre perfect for a ceremony.
Benches and vintage chairs were set up down the hill facing the arbor. A giant A, for Alex! Vintage furniture decorated the landscape, providing cozy places to hang out while you were roaming around the grounds. They even converted an old caravan into a bar and delicious cocktails were served our of the ‘The Galloping Gulp’ by Eau Claire Distillery. Every little details was beautifully thought out so provide an amazing experience for all the guests.
With dark clouds rolling in, the boys got ready and shared some drinks in the cabin up the hill. When it was time, they all piled in an old war canoe that Alex had recently refurbished. Complete with Hudson’s Bay stripes along the side. We all waited at the ceremony site and watched them paddle along the lake together, headed for the shores with the giant A. An Englishman crossing the pond to meet his wife to be. They all climbed out and got in their positions as the girls walked down the aisle to meet them. We then all looked across the other side of the property where we would see movement and a flash of white. The other Alex was riding towards us, lead by her father on a Palomino Horse. It was one of the most beautiful entrances to a wedding we have ever seen. The ceremony was led beautifully by Alex’s two Aunts as the rain drifted in and out with the heavy clouds.
With the help of Brian Lehodey, the big clear tent they rented was transformed into a greenhouse. With greenery coming down from the roof, flowers spread all over the tables and candles lighting up the vintage furniture. Everyone enjoyed dinner and drinks in the safety of the tent while the rain came down around them. Fork and Farm put on an amazing family style feast of locally grown food. The skies cleared to the west, just in time for the sunset to light up the storm clouds around the property. It was such a perfect end to such a stunning day. We both feel so lucky to have met such a lovely couple and to have had the opportunity to document such a beautiful day. Thanks for having us Alex and Alex and we both wish you all the best in your happy adventurous lives together.
