We grew up 1 hour from one another (peter in NYC and me in southern Connecticut ) but never knew one another. We both attended the same boarding school (high school) but did not overlap because we are 4+ years apart. Peter however was friends with my older sister and her now husband who were around his age at boarding school. They stayed friends/close and flashforward years later we all were living in NYC after college and Peter had his eye on me and would always ask my sister and brother in law to set us up. He asked me out a few times with no success (lol). Finally we did a photoshoot (he was the photographer and i was the model) for a mutual friend's new clothing company and we hit it off. I then accepted a first date :) It worked from the beginning-our personalities balance each other's very well and we share a lot of the same interests.
We also shared the sentiment that we had an itch to get out of NYC. We dated for 6 months in NYC then Peter got a job offer at TGR in Jackson, WY as a Controller. He moved to Jackson and we did long distance for almost a year (I was still in NYC trying to figure out how to move out to Jackson). I then moved out almost a year later and the rest is history. We have been out here together for almost 3 years. In that time we have decided Jackson is our forever place. We bought a house. We drive a truck. We have a dog and a cat named Leonardo DiCATrio...and we have invested in lots of powder skis.
Peter proposed last January on the coldest day of the year...it was -20 degrees out (not kidding) and he informed me after arriving home from work on a Friday afternoon that he wanted to go take our dog on a walk along the Snake River Dike in Wilson (this is our favorite place to walk our dog). I reluctantly agreed and proceeded to complain the entire walk about not feeling my fingers until he got down on one knee! Then I shut up! I was totally suprised-he did a great job planning it all. He was very sweet and planned a night at a hotel and all our close friends were there to celebrate with us too. We are getting married back on the east coast this August.
