Tyler and I met through his sister. She gave me his number to reach out to him. I’m not really sure why I did, seeing as I had never seen or spoken to the guy. It was great chemistry once we started texting and calling each other. It was a bit of a blind date situation once we finally did meet. We tried to go bowling on our first date but after us trying 3 different bowling alleys, all with leagues going on, and me getting us lost we decided to get some drinks at a nearby restaurant. He was so easy-going and had me laughing the entire time. I was hooked! 3 years later we went on birthday trip to Glenwood Springs. He had planned a hike to Hanging Lake. While walking to the trail he said, “This is going to be a life changing hike”. At the time I thought he was just excited to see the lake. Once we got to the lake he dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. It was a perfect day and a life changing hike!
Our wedding was a dream. We had it at the Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Farms. I always knew I wanted my wedding to be outside and I couldn’t think of a better location than one with luscious greenery, flowers, and breathtaking mountain views. The planning process was a challenge because I was in my last year of school. Planning was made so much easier with the help of my family, my wonderful photographer, Rachael Osborn of Rachael Osborn Photography, and Jordan Williams of Ever After Planning.
I had such a fun time choosing colors for the wedding. I went with dusty blue dresses (Show Me Your MuMu in steel blue chiffon) for my bridesmaids, grey suits for the groomsmen, and Tyler wore a navy blue suit (Men’s Wearhouse). The flowers were outstanding thanks to Jordan at Ever After Planning. I knew I wanted jewel tones for my flowers and she nailed it! My guests are still talking about about how amazing the flowers were. Jordan also helped with the planning process which made my life so much easier. She was so knowledgeable about everything and made the day of the wedding so stress-free and seamless. I got my dress from a bridal boutique in Illinois called Savy’s Chic Bridal Boutique. It was the very last dress I had to try on and as soon as I put it on I knew it was exactly the dress I wanted to get married in.
The number one piece of advice I got from friends or anyone who heard that we were planning a wedding was to get a top-rated photographer. My photographer Rachael Osborn was just that. She went above and beyond for our wedding. She not only captured such amazing moments of our big day but also helped me with timeline and planning questions. I am astounded by her work and am constantly amazed every time I look through our wedding photos. Our wedding day was truly the happiest day of my life. I am married to my best friend and we are so grateful to our friends and families to have had the opportunity to have such an amazing wedding.
