What’s a live wedding artist?
“an artist who brings his or her own canvas and art supplies to paint a scene in real time at a wedding”
About Kay Potter
Kay Potter has been a professional artist since 2015. She has always been passionate about creating art that has meaning and touches people’s heart…cue live wedding wedding paintings! With a background in plein air painting (painting outdoors) and landscape painting, Kay couldn’t be more perfect for the job of painting a beautiful couple with a beautiful backdrop. Her work is playful and bright, but also sweet and captures the big feelings of the day. And, depending on your style, Kay can keep it very loose and impressionistic, or work it to be more realistic.

The Process
Hiring a live wedding artist has a process similar to that of hiring your other vendors. Once you decide on the package you’d like to purchase and reserve your wedding date, Kay will want to hop on a call with you and your fiancé to go over the things you’re excited to capture in your painting. Kay wants to ensure this will be a piece of artwork you will treasure forever!
“I really love when a couple can trust me to use my artist’s eye to pick out the things that make their wedding special. I like to know what pose they want and what people they would like included, and from there, I like to focus on making them a beautiful painting.”
While Kay will touch base a couple weeks prior to the I do to confirm details, the process is pretty hands off to ensure you can focus on the nitty gritty details of your big day with your planner.
On the day of the wedding, Kay will arrive about 2 hours before your guests to get the scene started, and she’ll paint for about 6 hours on site as you enjoy your day. What we love most about Kay’s offerings is that while many wedding painters pass off the painting to you at the end of the night, Kay takes it home to ensure she will deliver a timeless heirloom you can keep forever. After the celebration ends, Kay touches up the painting and puts a protective varnish on it to make it everlasting! She truly takes care of all the details from including family and friends in the painting who may not have been able to attend to framing the finished product to help you and your love get the beautiful piece of art hung on the wall as soon as possible. You will have your painting within 4-6 weeks after your wedding.
