Maggie + Derek
Derek planned a special birthday dinner at a surprise location. We strolled through downtown and eventually came upon a Teatro. When we entered, instead of asking the hostess for our table, he asked her for the bags. I was confused! She stepped away and returned with bags containing our skates! There was a picturesque skating rink in a park next to the restaurant. As we were putting on our skates I noticed a small wood box in my skates and before I knew it, he was proposing!
The hora was an absolute blast. It’s such a fun tradition that brings guests together, dancing hand in hand, and everyone is smiling and laughing! It was so special to see guests who have never met one another potentially never experienced a hora before, jumping in and enthusiastically taking part. There were tons of fun tricks and stunts too!
I absolutely loved the beautiful Chuppah that Derek created using trees from the property I grew up on. It was adorned with stunning florals created by Amborella and we strung my dad’s tallit (Jewish prayer shawl) across the top. It was a truly meaningful connection to my family and my dad who had passed away.
We were absolutely blown away by the band. Barry Shaw and Unique were wonderful to work with and impressed our guests to no end. From the Hora to Frank Sinatra to the latest popular songs, they kept that dance floor full all night.
