Chic I Do’s at the 50th Parallel Winery Estate

British Columbia Real Wedding

From the moment we saw the wedding of Brianna and Brenden, we knew we wanted to know more! From the sophisticated black color palette to the chic wedding gown Brianna chose, this wedding is one to remember! Follow along as Brianna and Brenden share details about their love story, wedding inspiration and more!

The Story of How They Met

Brenden and I met back in the summer of 2015. We crossed paths for the first time at a local bar that we had both been to multiple times. A mutual friend of ours had invited us that we had shared for many years. It was August long weekend and our friends had made plans the next day to head to Allouette Lake. After everyone canceled (due to a hangover flu) Brenden and I still decided to go. After that day, we spent the rest of the summer together and now our lives.

How He Proposed

It was New Years Day 2018. Brenden had planned a local hike to the top of Quarry Rock in North Vancouver. Once we made it to the top, Brenden pulled me over the side of the rock and pulled out a ring! We both can’t remember what was said past that moment. I was totally surprised and he was speechless.

Your gown is so classic and gorgeous! When the wind blows, it reminds me of the iconic Marilyn Monroe photo! Who is the designer? Tell us how you knew this gown was the one!

My dress was one of my favorite statements at the wedding. The designer was Rita Vinieris purchased from their Fall/Winter 2018 collection. It was the high slit and dramatic train that made me fall in love with it. I always knew that I wanted something “Hollywood Glam”.

Tell us about the inspiration behind your wedding? We are obsessed with the chic all-black elegance throughout the day.

We loved the simplicity of keeping everything black and white to make the day as timeless as possible. We wanted something that you could look back on in 10 years and not know you got married in “2019”. After we secured our venue, we worked off its industrial-chic atmosphere. This really gave us the foundation for the overall design.

What was your favorite part of the day? Brenden’s too!

Brenden’s: The first look. It was the only time that day that we really got to spend with just each other. It was important to have that moment before the ceremony and the I Do’s.

Brianna’s: The reception. There wasn’t a filled seat after dinner. All of our family and friends spent the rest of the evening on the dance floor!

Why did you choose the venue?

We fell in the love with 50th Parallel Winery Estate because of the wineries design. Our ceremony was held in the upper vineyard. This treated all our guests to a full view of the Okanagan Lake during our ceremony and cocktail hour. After, we got to host the reception in the wineries tank hall where they produce all of their wines.

Any advice for couples-to-be?

When it comes to the actual wedding day, be sure to stay present. Take advantage of the opportunities that you get to make moments such as a first look! We also recommend hiring a wedding planner or day-of coordinator. You are investing in this one-day and you want to make sure you can enjoy it with your loved ones.
