Lauren + Conor
These two lovebirds splashed around in Brainard Lake for their engagement photos, captured by Sharee Davenport. We’re loving Lauren’s bright pink dress against that beautiful fall, Colorado background!
We met freshman year of college at Penn State on the club rowing team. We were close acquaintances for our first two years and became better friends at the end of sophomore year. The summer between our sophomore and junior year of college we were both interns for the first time at big companies: Conor was in New York City and I was in Pittsburgh. We frequently texted each other about our jobs and about our summer adventures.
Conor had planned to study abroad in Galway, Ireland that Fall, meaning he would not be back at Penn State the upcoming semester, but he snuck in a quick trip to Penn State to visit me and the rest of the rowing team before he left for the semester. During that trip, I decided I did not want to start a relationship with him going abroad and to just remain friends.
A lot of that changed when letters from Ireland arrived weekly from Conor! He talked a lot about his new friends, coursework, running, and how he was so excited to see me again. I started writing back weekly and before long we were Skyping almost daily for hours on end.
I decided that I had to see him and flew to Ireland for Thanksgiving break. It was my first time being abroad – and it was our first official date the night I arrived! Conor took me to a quaint Italian restaurant in downtown Galway for dinner, and afterward, we walked through the Galway Christmas market for mulled wine and dessert. Needless to say, it was the best first date I have ever been on!
Ever since then we tackled life together. We both stayed extra time at Penn State to get our Master’s degree’s together, got a dog named Nala, and then moved to Denver with great jobs.
A little over a year after we moved to Denver, we were back in Pennsylvania visiting my family. We drove out to my family’s houseboat on Lake Erie to take pictures together and little did I know that Conor was going to propose right there! After I said yes (very quickly!) his entire family jumped out from behind the bushes along the lake to surprise me. Everything was perfect!
We had the most perfect love story and needed a way to capture who we are. Our engagement session with Sharee was everything to us – the pictures, yes, but also the experience! We are two introverts that have a hard time opening up to other people but she brought out the best parts of us.
Colorado is so beautiful and we knew we had to capture the essence of the mountains in our engagement photos – it’s just so ‘us’!
Conor and I have been through so many parts of life together because we met each other at such a young age and I think both of us really cherish that we found each other so early in life. We have been there for each other through everything – good and bad – and I know he gets me in ways that no one else ever could.
