Long distance romances are some of my favourites because it affirms this idea that when you are meant to find the one, heaven and earth moves to make it happen. Things will happen without force when the timing is just right. And I truly believe that is part of Amanda and Gavin’s story. Amanda was Langley based, and Gavin originally from Australia then moved to Edmonton, AB – somehow in the craziness of life, these two’s paths would cross and start a whirlwind romance without borders.
It was a warm, sunny May day, with an abundance of love in the air with family members, friends and faith present. The energy and excitement for these two was tangible amongst the beginnings of summer air. Amanda surrounded by her bridesmaids and family was getting ready in their family home, music playing, and mother and father holding back those happy tears watching their not so little girl on her wedding day. The flower girl danced and twirled in her princess dress when she was adorned with her beautiful flower crown from Floralista in Fort Langley. Meanwhile the men were recounting stories of times in Australia and stories about racing, being the car connoisseurs they are. It made an obvious choice for Amanda & Gavin to have a vintage car for their transportation that adding yet another aspect of personalization to their big day. Then the big moment came, the church doors opened and it would be mere minutes before these two would be husband and wife. The church was filled with voices singing praises excitedly.
In the company of so much love two people tied the knot and celebrated with champagne, donuts, nods to Australia with songs song, and that epic sparkler exit to their getaway car. One quote that just resonates and reminds me of the story of this couple is:
“For the two of us, home isn't a place. It is a person. And we are finally home.” â Stephanie Perkins
