Brent + Becky
Brent + Becky eloped in beautiful Banff, Alberta at Bow Lake. Their special day was simple + elegant, and we’re thankful The Wild + Wed Photography thought to share this elopement with us. The ceremony views overlooking the lake are breathtaking!
Brent and Becky are from Australia. They reached out to me in November 2018, and shared their immense excitement about wanting to elope in Canada! They fell in love with the Canadian Rocky Mountains, and I instantly knew all of the location + suggestions I wanted to share. Needless to say, I was honoured and so excited they reached out and wanted me to be a part of their day. As the months passed, our excitement escalated, but a beautiful summer for 2019 was not favourable. It was a rainy year for Alberta, and while we were a little worrisome about the location they picked, we remained positive and stuck to our hopes and “winged it”. Bow Lake is known to be one of the windiest locations due to its exposure, but somehow, we were completely gifted the opposite which was a dream come true! The weather was perfect.
Brent and Becky began their ceremony at 6:30PM on August 19th, 2019. The sun was just starting to set lower, gifting us beautiful light we never expected, and there was absolutely zero wind. To this day, I still think Brent and Becky still brought the Australian weather to Canada this day with them. It could not have been more perfect. After Brent and Becky shared their vows and said I do, we skipped into their family and bridal portraits. Becky even went into Bow Lake – barefoot! We moved onto Peyto Lake for a final sunset look out and wrapped up our evening with a hug goodbye. It feels so bittersweet. To this day, Bow Lake remains a special memory in my heart, and now, one of my all time favourite locations to photograph.
