Brooke + Eric
This engagement session by Sweet Like Pie captures two things Coloradans love: mountains + beer. We love the simplicity of this engagement session and the natural beauty of the Colorado mountains!
Brooke and Eric live in Dallas but chose to get married where Eric went to school in Boulder. They both fell in love with the city and wanted to spend their big moments in the heart of it. We began at an art-filled bar where they’ll be holding their reception, The Rayback Collective. The couple wanted a very “Colorado” feel. We used the beautiful flatirons for our second location and took a windy road to a mountaintop for their last spot. It was about 10 degrees at Lost Gulch where we finished. We all fell down on our rears a few times but this frozen Dallas couple declared the experience was well worth the freeze!

I had a whole proposal plan for our snowboarding trip at Keystone Resort and nothing went as planned. It was our second year taking this holiday trip to Keystone and then Boulder, and we wanted to hit all of our favorite spots from the year before. We loved our dinner at the Ski Tip Lodge so we booked reservations. I thought this would be a great place to propose. We invited our close friends after finding out they would be nearby on a family trip and I figured this would make it even more special for her. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. My plan was to propose as a surprise while we took photos with our friends after dinner and dessert. Unfortunately, Brooke wanted to get there earlier than I thought, and insisted on taking the opportunity to take photos then. I didn’t want to propose before dinner and take all of the attention away from a great dinner with our friends. I figured I could come up with a good reason we needed to take more photos after dinner but Brooke seemed suspicious so I decided to just wait until we got back to the room. I pulled out a bottle of champagne we were holding for New Years and asked her if she should celebrate. She asked me “celebrate what?” That’s when I got down on one knee and brought the ring out. She was honestly so shocked that her first words were, “Are you joking right now?” I laughed and had to repeat my entire proposal speech because she couldn’t remember what I said. She obviously said yes!
