When traveling photography and videography duo Paige and Corey of Going Home Collective contacted me about doing a shoot at Bonneville Salt Flats I immediately said yes! Their vision for the shoot was moody, rich colors with boho and modern influences.
Emma and Lindsay are a real couple and were perfect for the vibe we wanted; fun, wild, free-spirited, and definitely completely in love! Emma dreamed about a beautiful flowy gown and Hayley Paige’s Honeycomb gown with this flowing organza skirt was perfection. Lindsay wanted to rock a suit, so we dressed her in a sleeveless jumpsuit and paired it with a relaxed fit blazer in this gorgeous burgundy color…and she did rock it!
We worked with Allie of Intertwined Floral to design a unique backdrop as our anchor for the design. The copper pipe base is topped with an ethereal, flowing installation of wire and floral pieces that appear to be ascending from the earth.
The cake by Sweet Cravings by Marcia is a piece of art! This split tier cake is so unique. If you look at the textures on the tier you will see a glistening “salt” pattern. The salt flats flood during winter and occasionally when it rains a lot, and this pattern on the cake replicates the pattern on the salt flats when it dries and bakes in the sun. We used the same flowing design of the backdrop with wire and floral in between the space of the split tiers to create visual interest and cohesiveness.
The tablescape is the perfect blend of natural and modern elements; asymmetrical dishes, sleek modern flatware, natural textured linens and organic ceramics. Sprinkle some salt to perfectly complement the surroundings and make everything glisten and we’ve got the perfect combination for this Bonneville Salt Flats elopement inspiration shoot.
