Nick and Lydia are the coolest, most real couple you could ever meet. Lydia is one of those people that always has a book in hand, and who also makes you want to start reading more often, and Nick is super creative and has way more style than I could ever wish for. They love to adventure together, and I am so thankful that they let me tag along with them to one of their favorite hiking trails near Bogus Basin in Boise, Idaho. It was a perfect cloudy, summer morning with fog settling over the mountains as we drove up to the hills.
We parked Lydia’s Volvo at the beginning of the trail and ran up the path. Capturing their natural goofiness and laughter was easy as they practiced swing dance moves and cuddled in wildflowers just off the trail. I followed as they splashed through puddles and weaved around trees. After we were sufficiently warm from all of the running around, we headed back to the car for a change of outfits.
They made coffee on the camp stove in the back of Lydia’s car and poured it into a Hydroflask, due to the fact that we had forgotten mugs! While Lydia picked some flowers to put in the vents in the trunk of the car, Nick got his guitar out and strummed for a bit. The coolest part about this was that I wasn’t directing them at all, this is just how they are, and it’s awesome! Once everyone was caffeinated, they pulled out their old film camera, climbed on top of the Volvo, and rolled in some dirt for good measure.
When we got back in town, Lydia and Nick made me strawberry crepes. Seriously. Coffee and crepes. If every session was like this one, I would completely be okay with it.
