Dylan and I met 4 and a half years ago and the sparks were instant. We both had a love of the outdoors and horses! After just two weeks of dating, I brought him out to my Mom’s ranch in Beaver Mines.
I grew up in a little slice of paradise on the outskirts of the Rockies surrounded by valleys, mountains and an indescribable view. We went for a ride to the top of the hill and I mentioned this was the place I had wanted to get married since I was a little girl. Little did I know I would end up marrying my best friend on that very hill.
Every detail of the wedding showed our love of the mountains and a western lifestyle, even Dylan’s surprise proposal was while we were taking pictures with our horses. Our big day began with getting the hay bales out for people to sit on, the day was bright and clear, and the ride up in the box of old pickup trucks was the perfect touch. After the ceremony, we rode off on horses to take pictures overlooking the Beaver Mines Valley. We even got a few with the ranch dog in the background.
The party was at Heritage Acres, an antique museum barn lit up with twinkly lights and simple western beauty. The flowers were natural and unique, the food was local and delicious and every aspect reflected the Southern Alberta touch. Every minute spent planning was completely worth it and the day was more perfect than we could have ever asked for.
