Corey and I knew we wanted a destination wedding in a scenic place. We didn’t want to spend money on decorations and wanted the backdrop to speak for itself. Banff, for many Americans, is a bucket list location; even my Canadian relatives hadn’t been to Banff. It was the perfect setting for a destination wedding. The town is small and walkable. Canadians are so nice, plus Banff is a majestic place. We fell in love when we visited. It also helps that my grandmother is from Peace River (northern Alberta) and always spoke highly of her childhood visits to Banff. It was an all-around perfect place that really reflected our love of the outdoors, and something slightly off the beaten path for a wedding. It also didn’t hurt that the food was fantastic, the vendors were easy to work with, even from abroad, and everyone was itching to go. We also made a night out of a Canadian pastime by hosting our rehearsal dinner at the local curling rink with the local curling club showing us the ropes. It was an amazing and memorable experience. We loved every minute.
