Dalana and Justin had been together for 11 years when they decided to get married. They shared the same friends and their families we close so they wanted their wedding to feel like a fun, relaxed, backyard get together. They chose a friend's farm in Maple Ridge, BC as the location for their wedding as the property perfectly suited the style of their wedding and allowed their families to have a hand in the preparations.
With a color scheme of rust, dusty blue and white, Dalana and Justin worked tirelessly on their décor details, creating a DIY wedding that was thoughtful and stylish. They handmade every sign, collected antlers, vintage lanterns and hand cut wood planks for the centerpieces. Dalana sourced vintage china rentals and worked closely with friends and decorators, Debut Event Design, on finishing touches. Bridesmaid Lauren Sabo, of Botany & Co, created the overgrown bouquets and rustic centerpieces which featured Dalana's favorite rust-colored coffee break roses.
Dalana and Justin were married on the edge of the horse paddock and following their emotional ceremony guests played lawn games and enjoyed local craft beer before moving into the tent for dinner. Dinner was a family favourite - barbeque - and finished with a pie bar featuring homemade sweet potato pie, banana pudding and a show stopping cake designed by Dalana herself (she owns Vancouver cake company, The Cake and the Giraffe). Dancing took place in the barn and one of our favourite moments was watching Dalana remove the tulle ball skirt of her Pure Magnolia gown to reveal a shorter tulle dress and a pair of Vans for their first dance.
Dalana and Justin treat everyone like family and we feel fortunate to have had a hand in bringing this wedding to life.
