Proposal Story

We were on a road trip to visit his mother on Vancouver Island, and we had stopped for a couple of days to vacation near a small town I had grown up in, Vernon. One night Payton said he wanted to go for a walk, so we got in the car and drove to this little hike just a couple minutes away from where we had been staying.

As we got out of the car, I turned around to see Payton basically skipping up behind me. Little did he know, I had seen a small box shape protruding from his back pocket as he came up to me. I didn’t have to hold my poker face for long, because not 10 minutes after we started our walk he grabbed my hand, turned me around to face him, and got down on one knee.

As soon as he started talking, tears came to my eyes. I barely heard anything he was saying because I was so emotional, but as he held out the ring box, with tears streaming down my face, his head in my hands, and our foreheads touching (because he is a full foot taller than me, so we were basically the same height as he kneeled), I said yes! And that’s the story of how we got engaged!
