An Adventurous Weekend Getaway at Under Canvas Moab

If you’re looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of your ordinary life, pack your bags and grab your significant other because we know just the place! Under Canvas Moab, a luxury glamping experience, is located just 7-miles north of Utah’s famed Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. Tucked between two world-class climbing, mountain biking, and hiking destinations, Under Canvas’ desert glamping accommodations are a gateway to the towering plateaus, sandstone cliffs, and naturally occurring geologic wonders of Utah’s Canyon Country. This destination is the ultimate getaway for those who are adventurous at heart seeking to disconnect and reconnect with one another. Unplug, unwind and discover the natural beauty of your surroundings and each other.

Whether you’re planning an anniversary trip, engagement celebration, or just a short weekend away, Under Canvas Moab will be a trip unlike any other. Recently, a local Rocky Mountain couple ventured to Under Canvas Moab for a birthday weekend celebration. We love how they took advantage of being together in a surreal location to capture their love. Cooky and Darren hired Kayle Rae Photography to head west with them to capture moments in time that would help them remember not only the trip, but the love, laughter, and happiness they share with each other!

About the Couple’s Trip

My birthday is on the Fourth of July and my husband, Darren, and I always try to go out of town for the holiday! With Covid-19, we decided to stay close to home and drive out west to Moab, Utah! I’ve always wanted to stay at Under Canvas Moab and thought it’d be a perfect time to stay at such a unique place! When we booked our tent, I thought it’d be wonderful to have some professional photos taken of us for my birthday and also our amazing room! We messaged Kayla and luckily she was down to venture out to Moab for the Fourth of July weekend!

One of our favorite things to do in Moab is to visit Arches National Park and hike Delicate Arch right before sunset. The rocks turn a fiery red and it is so beautiful! Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park is also one of our go-to’s! Since our trip was slightly last minute and it was a holiday weekend, a lot of the excursions were at max capacity! Luckily, we found Canyonlands By Night and Day and checked out their “Spin & Splash Jet Boat” tour! It was so much fun! They take you on a fun and fast jet boat on the Colorado River. It’s both scenic and thrilling. And you get soaked- which is perfect for a hot day in the desert! One of our favorite places to eat in town is Moab Garage Co. where they have a great breakfast and lunch! For an afternoon pickup, check out Moab Coffee Roasters! You can get ice cream and coffee! Huckleberry is my favorite seasonal flavor!

No matter what time of the year it is, Moab is always one of our favorite places to visit! Make sure to have Under Canvas Moab on your list to stay!

Ways to Unplug and Reconnect

While back at your tent, instead of unwinding by scrolling on your phone, consider packing a deck of cards or board games to play! There’s nothing like a friendly or competitive game of UNO! Or, roast some marshmallows by the fire as the sun fades beneath the horizon. Listen to the howls of coyotes, gaze at the stars, and just be.

Activities + Attractions

There’s nothing better than getting outside and enjoying some quality time exploring the wild west! Moab offers more adventures than you could imagine, so plan on coming back for another stay. Below are some of our favorite reconditions.

Arches National Park: You can spend all day, if not more, exploring Arches National Park. With over 2,000 natural stone arches, in addition to hundreds of soaring pinnacles, massive fins and giant balanced rocks, you’ll have a picturesque view from every angle!

Dead Horse Point State Park: Just a quick 45-minute drive from Moab, Dead Horse Point State Park is one of Utah’s most spectacular state parks where the view from the Point is one of the most photographed scenic vistas in the world.

Canyonlands National Park: Canyonlands National Park is a must! With hundreds of miles of trails and numerous excursions, there is something for every level of adventurer.

Canyonlands By Night and Day: Take Cooky and Darren’s recommendation and book a wild “Spin & Splash Jet Boat Tour” for an exciting excursion!

Paddleboarding and Kayaking: Soak up some Vitamin D while enjoying a more laid back water activity!

Slickrock Trail: If you’re an avid mountain biker, you’ve got to check out the Slickrock Trail. The trail is 12 miles, however, there is a 3-mile loop which is a great section to test your skills. Word on the street is that the full trail is not for beginners.

Whitewater Rafting: Mild to Wild offers the most incredible whitewater rafting experiences! From big rapids to small, this excursion will be the most memorable part of your trip.

Castle Creek Winery: Need a break from all the epic adventures? Head to Castle Creek Winery for some wine tasting. Enjoy a few glasses while enjoying the incredible views of the Colorado River and western landscape.

Good Eats

There is a large variety of good eats in the area to fuel your outdoor activities! Below we’re sharing some of our favorite pit stops!

Quesadilla Mobilla: The Quesadilla Mobilla is one of my favorite places to grab a quick lunch while in Moab. It parks itself in the heart of downtown so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding it. Snag yourself an ooey-gooey cheesy quesadilla and take a break from the desert heat under one of the picnic tables and umbrellas.

The Spoke: The best thing about The Spoke is their walk-up window! Not looking to sit down and eat? Order a cone or shake to go. Or, sit, stay and indulge! Their burgers are definitely worth popping in for!

Moab Brewery: There’s honestly nothing better than a good beer after a long day of hiking! If that’s you, Moab Brewery is a must on your list.

Moab Garage Co.: Looking for a great place for brunch, Moab Garage Co. is our pick! From pastries and the Croque Monsieur to biscuits and gravy, this eatery won’t let you down.

The Blu Pig: This is the best spot in town for some live tunes! The Blu Pig serves up some great BBQ, cocktails, and music every night of the week!

Ready to sneak away for a few days? Book your tent here!
