Sapphire and I met through a mutual friend in our first year of university. We were both taking chemistry at SFU. I quickly realized I am terrible at science, but I was able to walk away from that class with something other than a failing grade – a first date with Sapphire.
I wanted to “wow” her, so I reached deep down into my creative depths and, when I re-emerged, I took her to dinner and a movie.
Many years later, on our 7th anniversary, we spent the day skating on a frozen Trout Lake. We followed it up with a romantic tapa-style dinner. I then took Sapphire to the spot where we had our first date, which is also the spot where I first said I loved her (not on the first date, that would be weird) and proposed. To my surprise, she said yes.
Our relationship has survived many trials and tribulations, as well as delights and successes. We are very excited to be planning our future lives together. It has now been 8 years with no end in sight!
