It was honestly a huge surprise for me and it’s pretty emotional lol. So it was back in April and we’ve been together for 7 years so I was always kinda anticipating it happening soon because he’d send me rings and stuff but he caught me totally out of left field that day. My birthday is April 17th and we were planning to announce the arrival of our first baby on that day but I found out 2 days before my birthday that I had a failed miscarriage at 13 weeks I could barely get out of bed and he knew that I was looking so forward to that so he went out and bought the ring the next day without me knowing. He somehow convinced me to get dressed up for my birthday dinner and that we go out to the melting pot, which was the first place we went out on a date when we first met.
We were in their private back room where he had rose petals all over the table, where oblivious me thought it was for my birthday. We had a really nice dinner together and then when it came to the desert I was surprised that he didn’t want the chocolate fondue. Little did I know that the waitress was going to turn the corner with a cake that said “Will you marry me, Mrs. White?” and then got down on his knee and asked me to be his wife. He said that he knew how excited I was and that he wanted me to have the best birthday and to see me smile again, which he highly succeeded at.
