Kyle and I met on an online dating site. Yes, they actually DO work! The night we met I didn’t know what to expect but little did I know I was meeting my soul mate. If you are from New Mexico you know Green Chile is everything. He took me to a pizza restaurant with green chile crusted pizza (A way to my heart!). Afterward, Kyle surprised me with a one on one paint night. Our night wasn’t over, we couldn’t stop talking, from there we went to Blue Grasshopper for appetizers and beers. Still, we couldn’t stop being around each other so we ran to the local Walgreens and picked up some snacks and headed to the park to watch a movie under the stars.
Flash Forward to Christmas eve. I knew Kyle was going to propose, but I didn’t know when or where. I thought it would be at our family Christmas Eve party in front of all our family, but nothing happened. I didn’t worry, I thought “maybe new years?”. After a long night of festivities I was exhausted, oh and did I mention 8 months pregnant? All I wanted to do was go to bed. As I snuggled up in bed Kyle walked in and asked: “Did you want to open presents in here or in the living room?”. We got each other one present each that was under our tree. I replied, “Well I’m already here so let’s open them in here”. Kyle opens his present first. A Captain America figurine that he’s wanted. Okay, my turn. He brings out this box, the box you would get clothes in.. maybe a blanket? I opened it to find…a towel. Yes, a towel. I thought maybe it was a clue on a beautiful vacation to the Bahamas? But I noticed this towel is actually one of the towels we own. So I say awkwardly, “Oh wow a beach towel, thanks.” Kyle laughed and said, “JUST KIDDING!” And pulls out a little pink box and asked me to marry him. It was all very us; playful, simple, and relaxed.
Our wedding will be on September 25, 2020, in our hometown of Albuquerque, NM. We plan to gather with a small group of close friends and family at the base of the Sandia mountains for a sunset elopement.
