A Perfect Wedding Celebration at the Big Horn Equestrian Center

Wyoming Real Wedding

“Our story, one of my favorites to tell. We got to know eachother from across the world, literally. Meanwhile, we were neighbors and didn’t even know it until our first date 6 weeks later!

 Let me back track:
A friend of mine opened 307 Healing Waters in Casper, WY. In the beginning I was helping promote her new business. Kade sent me a message inquiring about the experience and from there, a window for conversation was opened. Ultimately, we all knew he used his question as an excuse to talk to me but I wasn’t upset about it! My friend Tricia told me I really needed to talk to, ‘the good looking guy that used my name as a reference.’

Kade and I casually chatted back and forth via messages and soon he left the states to backpack/scuba dive in Thailand, Indonesia and Australia. We never got to meet before he left but we kept in contact for the next 6 weeks. He was in a different part of the world and in completely different time zones. Needless to say, I didn’t expect to hear much from him but we made an effort to talk everyday while he was gone.

When he returned home we went on our first date at Backwards Distillery. I drove myself there to make sure I wasn’t getting ‘catfished,’ although I felt like I’d known this stranger for years already. After awhile we somehow got on the subject of our neighbors / neighborhood. Come to find out, we lived 4 houses away from each other and had been neighbors for a few years! We are still frequent flyers at Backwards and the rest is history!

Planning and Inspiration: Kade and I are both born and raised in Casper, Wyoming. We LOVE our state and it’s natural beauty. We knew we wanted an outdoor summer wedding with the open Wyoming skies as our backdrop. After attending Don King days at the Big Horn Equestrian Center in Sheridan, WY- we knew it was our venue. The fields are big and beautiful and you simply can’t beat the Big Horn mountains as a background. Our everyday style is modern/rustic/natural/western so we wanted to keep that fluid in our wedding theme. We went with simple white and greenery for the flowers and a subtle navy and dusty blue for the color palette. The groom and groomsmen wore hats and cowboys boots which was appropriate for the location! Our ceremony was on the polo fields- short and sweet. Our main focus was the reception. We have an incredible group of friends and family and we love to have a good time. My good friend Zack Schommer, he’s AMAZING, played live music for a few hours and switched over to our DJ as the sun went down. We danced the night away and had the BEST.DAY.EVER.”
