With spooky season upon us, we thought it would be fun to show off seven Rocky Mountain venues that can give off a deeper, moody feel.  If you’re a couple who doesn’t want the light and bright, all white venue, and wants something a with a little bit more of a dramatic-candle-light design, this one is for you!  Keep reading to find the perfect venue fit for your personal vibe.

1. Black Barn
265055 Township Road 472
Wetaskiwin County, Alberta

Black Barn sits near the banks of Pipestone creek in Alberta, Canada, surrounded by hundreds of acres of farmland. Originally a homestead, the owners preserved the historic architecture of the classic gambrel roof barn, while completely remodeling the interior into a modern and luxurious event space.   Aptly named, the exterior of the barn is all black – creating a bold contrast against the land, and posing as the perfect backdrop for a dark and moody design.

2. The Stanley Hotel
333 East Wonderview Avenue
Estes Park, Colorado

Located in scenic Estes Park, The Stanley Hotel is a gorgeous getaway for you and your guests.  The venue is close by Rocky Mountain National Park, an hour and a half drive from downtown Denver, and holds lots to explore for your guests.  You can visit downtown Estes while in town, invite your guests to the underground theater at the Stanley for a show, and host a moody welcome party in the cozy, romantic Library Room followed by drinks at the dimly lit cocktail bar.  Plus, The historic Stanley Hotel has a history of being “haunted” too, so this could be a fun one for the paranormal lovers, Stephen King readers, or a couple wanting a cheeky, Halloween vibe.

3. Bluebird
218 Lynx Street
Banff, Alberta

A wood-fired steakhouse with a mid-century love for cocktails and dinner parties that emphasize the party, Bluebird is a chalet-inspired venue nestled in beautiful Banff – ready for an intimate wedding day after exploring what the area has to offer.  The venue has private rooms to rent for weddings of up to 168 guests and indoor/outdoor ceremony options for any moody event.

4. Parlur
1550 Court Place
Denver, Colorado

Parlur is a brand new venue in downtown Denver with indoor and outdoor space for weddings of any size.  The venue includes dark wooden walls and velvet lounge furniture, which only adds to a moody design.  Parlur is conveniently located across from the Sheraton, with room blocks available, and close to endless options of eating, drinking, and shopping – so your guests don’t have to drive anywhere before or after your wedding day!

5. 4U Ranch
3158 West 5000 North
Peoa, Utah

A stunning ranch wedding venue located on the Weber River, 4U Ranch has an open, blank-slate wooden design ready for your deep tones and romantic, moody wedding design.  The venue is 20 minutes east of historic downtown Park City, so this is a fun wedding destination on top of being beautiful!  Check out a dark and moody wedding day planned at 4U Ranch here on our blog.

6. Ramble Hotel
1280 25th Street
Denver, Colorado

The Ramble Hotel is located in the RiNo district of Denver, a perfect area for bar-hopping if your moody wedding puts everybody in the mood for an after party.  This dark-accented boutique hotel houses multiple intimate event spaces ideal for smaller wedding events.  Speaking of drinks, make sure your guests check out the incredible craft cocktail bar inside, Death & Co., and definitely take a couple portrait in front of that beautiful, dramatic bar

7. The Flagstaff House
1138 Flagstaff Road
Boulder, Colorado

The Flagstaff House has breathtaking views, award-wining cuisine, a world-renowned wine program and five-star service for your special day. Just two miles from famous, historic Pearl Street, this venue is a mountain-destination within the heart of Boulder.  The dark exterior, A-frame roofing, and long windows add a moody effect to a wedding of up to 150 guests!

However “dark and moody” you hope to get for your wedding day, there’s a great space for your event somewhere in the Rockies.  Whether you want all black, deep jewel tones, or shades of red – we can’t wait to see dark & moody inspiration from your future wedding!  To celebrate the season even further, check out this festive blog featuring another moody Rocky Mountain venue – “Moody Halloween Wedding at Hotel Colorado”.
