“On September 7th, 2024, we woke before the sun, wrapped in blankets and excitement, to watch the hot air balloon races in Reno. The sky slowly filled with color as balloons lifted into the cool morning air. We sat close together, not knowing what Najee had planned for the rest of the day. We made our way to Lake Tahoe and began our hike to the top of Maggie’s Peak. The trail challenged us, but we laughed through it, stopping often to admire the view and to catch our breath. When we finally reached the summit, with the lake below us, Najee got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.”
