“Shelby and Anthony were planning to visit Banff from Toronto, and Anthony decided he was going to propose to Shelby on their trip. The visit was planned for December, but he had specifically told Shelby he wouldn’t propose until the new year. So he figured this trip was the perfect chance to catch her fully off guard with a surprise proposal. He contacted me a few weeks prior to their trip, and his two requests were that (1) the proposal be a complete, total surprise and (2) the photos have a stunning mountain backdrop. He wanted a full mountain view in the background, and after chatting about locations, he was most drawn to Lake Minnewanka. We chatted over the phone a few times to plan out all the details to a tee. Together, we came up with the perfect plan for a surprise sunrise proposal. Shelby was not expecting it at all and was absolutely ecstatic! We captured some fun celebratory photos around the lakeshore right after the big moment. When he booked the proposal, Anthony also booked a second shoot for the following day because he wanted Shelby to have the chance to actually plan for a photoshoot and also wanted some more photos at a totally different location. So for the second day, we traveled up the Banff gondola on Sulphur Mountain for some cozy mountaintop engagement photos. The pairing of the lakeshore proposal on day one with the snowy mountaintop session on day two really made for the most beautiful combination.”
