I honestly can’t say enough good things about Deb and The Heritage Centre team! They truly helped bring my husband and I’s dream day to life. First of all the venue is STUNNING. Our guests still can’t stop talking about it! Everyone was so amazing to deal with! They were very flexible, professional and SO helpful. From the second we met Deb, we knew that there was no other option for our venue, and our wedding was in incredible hands! I can’t recommend it enough!

We had the absolute pleasure of celebrating my brother’s wedding at the Heritage Centre this summer, and it was nothing short of magical. From start to finish, everything ran so smoothly, and the venue truly exceeded our expectations. The grounds were stunning — beautifully maintained, with a perfect blend of charm and elegance. The setting offered plenty of spots for photos, and the indoor space was just as beautiful, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Debora and her team were equally outstanding. They were attentive, professional, and incredibly accommodating throughout the planning process and on the big day. Their attention to detail ensured everything ran smoothly, and we were able to simply enjoy the celebration without any stress. Our guests are still raving about how beautiful and well-organized everything was. It was a day filled with love, joy, and unforgettable memories — and much of that is thanks to this amazing venue. If you’re looking for a wedding venue that delivers both beauty and excellence in service, I highly recommend The Heritage Centre. It exceeded all of our expectations!

Fun facts

How did the venue become a wedding venue?

Founder Debora Rice-Salomons made her dreams came true when she purchased a 1903 Alberta Homestead and built her Barn Wedding & Event Venue near Calgary, Alberta. Hard work, farm-girl grit and determination made Debora’s dream come true. In January 2017, Debora happened upon the Heritage Centre farmstead. Debora spent 40 years working as an accountant in the Oil and Gas Industry. She travelled and worked in Yemen and China to save enough money to make her dreams come true. When she hit a mile¬stone birthday, she decided it was now or never to make her dreams a reality. She began searching for the right barn. In early 2017, Debora purchased the “Rattray Homestead” one mile east of Cremona. Years of harsh Alberta Weather had taken a toll on the Rattray property and its majestic barn. The barn was in sad disrepair, the west foundation wall had collapsed, the roof was sagging, and there was three feet of pigeon poop in the loft. With her life savings, her dream firmly in place, Debora began the barn rescue. Small but mighty she did a lot of work herself. Many a local farmer stopped by the barn construc¬tion site to check out the work and provide free advice on how the barn should be saved. Economics dictated it would be cheaper to build a new barn than to rescue the historic barn, but for Debora, the economics were overruled by her dreams. Early in the project Flemming Jorgensen, a talented Danish designer with 60+ years experience joined the team. Celebrating his 80+ birthdays during the construction Flemming brought a wealth of talent and knowledge to the project. From the overall design to the thoughtful finishing touches the project grew from his vision. Under his artistic watch, the barn rose to its former grandeur. Today Debora’s Barn (The Heritage Centre) is a place where friends and families come to celebrate, to dream and to dance. Community events raise funds for the dreams of local residents. Concerts make the dreams of your talented musicians become a reality. Weddings make young couple’s dreams come true and make memories for a lifetime. Debora credits family, friends, and a team of talented professionals in making her Historic Barn Dream come true. But behind it all was a little girl’s dream of dancing with her Dad in an Alberta Barn! With Love and Dedication to Alberta, Alberta Barns, and Dreams that Came True! What is your favorite part about a wedding?

My favorite moment is the first time the groom sees the bride—when she takes his breath away and you can see it in his eyes. It’s the split second where everything feels real: the emotion rises, tears show up without warning, and the whole room seems to soften around them. It’s pure, unplanned, and unforgettable.

What do you consider your style to be?

Our style is country-elegant with timeless heritage charm—a romantic blend of prairie beauty, warm rustic textures, and polished, modern comfort. Think big-sky Alberta sunsets, unforgettable outdoor ceremony spaces, and a chandelier-lit celebration that feels both welcoming and elevated.
