“Julia and Andrew met in their first couple of days at the University of Denver in 2013, both arriving as transfer students. With dorm rooms just a few doors apart, they saw a lot of each other and became friends within a few weeks. It wasn’t long until they became essentially inseparable: studying together, eating together, and spending hours at a time binging old episodes of Parks & Rec. Despite years of rumors and accusations to the contrary, Julia and Andrew remained just friends — until Spain. To no one’s surprise, just like they did everything else together, they chose to study abroad together in Sevilla, Spain. During their semester abroad, they fell in love (no longer just friends) through early mornings on the metro to school, warm afternoons with cold Cruzcampos, and late nights at the reggaeton clubs. They have been together and completely in love ever since. In the summer of 2023, the couple took a trip to Europe to celebrate their friend’s wedding in the United Kingdom, followed by visits to Copenhagen and Amsterdam. Unbeknownst to Julia, Andrew had been planning out the proposal in Amsterdam for months. Andrew popped the question on the Magere Brug Bridge, known to be ‘lovers bridge,’ in Amsterdam. Julia and Andrew both knew a traditional wedding wasn’t for them. After many debates, tours, and research, they settled on exchanging vows with their immediate families in the backyard at Julia’s parents’ house. Andrew’s sister, Margaret, officiated the ceremony, and their nephew, Felix, served as the flower boy. Julia used Thursday Floral Co for her flowers, as utilizing local blooms was something she wanted to prioritize. The menu consisted of four courses and wine pairings for each course that the couple had hand-selected. While Andrew’s mother was unable to attend the wedding, her illustrations were used on the seating cards and menus to make sure she was still part of the couple’s big day.”
