“In my first year of university, my dad helped open Canmore Brewing Company. As I moved into my dorm at Mount Royal University, my dad sent me with several flats of his new beer to help me make friends. My roommates and I took the beer and decided to knock on doors nearby to try to find cute boys. We never ended up making it past the house next door! Daniel and his roommates were happy to take the beer and invited us to a party that night. We ended up going back to my dorm, lying on the floor drinking hot chocolate and Baileys, and doing the Arthur Aron test. Daniel was studying psychology, so he explained that Arthur Aron had developed 36 questions that could make you fall in love with a stranger. We did them that night, and I guess the psychologist was right! We had quite a bit of fun that night, and then Daniel asked me out on our first real date a few days later. As an homage to our first meeting, we had Canmore Brewing sponsor our wedding (thanks, Dad), and got to drive off in a car with their beer cans hanging off the back bumper! On our six-year anniversary, Daniel took me to my favourite Canmore restaurant for breakfast: Rocky Mountain Bagels. We had coffee and bagels before heading to Johnston Canyon for a hike. It was November 17th, so it was cold and icy, but we laughed the whole time as we slipped all over the pathway. I had always loved winter and hiking, so the combination made it a truly magical day. The first day we said “I love you” to each other was during the first snowfall of 2017, and it ended up snowing on this day as well. Eventually, we came to the final waterfall, which was completely frozen and jaw-droppingly beautiful. I was taking photos of it, and when I turned around, Daniel was on one knee! I heard cheering and looked up to see a couple above us taking photos. We had passed them on the hike, and Daniel had flashed them the ring box as a code to take photos. They were complete strangers we had never met, but they managed to capture some amazing shots from that day. I was so happy that I cried a lot and immediately said yes!”
