Intimate and Foggy Mountaintop Wedding in British Columbia

June 3, 2025 BY: Amy

“It all began on June 30, 2022 when I was Drew’s waitress, and we met for the first time. Fast forward to us finding out we lived across the street from one another. There were many invisible strings that were always tying us to each other, and it became evident quickly that we were meant to find one another. We spoke of marriage on our first date, and it was clear to us from the beginning that we had found who we were made to love. Everyday we thank God for one another. Our story is really quite simple, we found each other and we knew. Drew ended up proposing to me on China beach on Vancouver Island in Sooke, British Columbia which is a very special place to us. He gave me a letter his mother had wrote him as soon as she found out he had bought the ring. I read the letter, and began crying while putting the pieces together. Then Drew was on a knee sharing every bit of his heart with me, and asking me the most important question. Easiest yes ever. We planned our wedding in my final year of university, so things were busy and a bit chaotic at times. However we made sure to be as intentional as possible with each other during this time. We actually booked a last minute getaway to Mexico because we wanted to soak up our time as fiancés. That trip was super special, and it reminded us that no matter how stressful planning the moving parts of a wedding day can be, it’s really just about us declaring our love and commitment with the people we love. Our wedding day was the absolute best day of our lives. Every single moment felt like the purest form of bliss. We shared hand written vows to each other on the top of Kicking Horse Mountain with our closest family and friends. Our reception was at the Golden Civic Centre where we had our first dance as a married couple to our song ‘Sun To Me’ by Zach Bryan. We went less traditional and did a taco food truck for dinner, because who doesn’t love tacos? We never could have dreamed that our day would be as special as it was. I think the most important piece of advice I could give for ‘the perfect wedding day’, is to marry the love of your life. All the details of the day are beautiful, and they certainly create special moments for your memories of the day, but ultimately it’s about the person. I felt the joy I did on my wedding day because I got to marry my best friend, and nothing else really matters as much as that.”
