“A typical weekend for us always involves hiking in the Rocky Mountains, so I think we both knew that’s where we would one day get engaged. On this particular weekend, we were trying out snowshoeing for the first time. Ironically, on the drive up, I was bugging him about ‘putting a ring on it’ as I often did at this point in our relationship. Of course, he knew something I didn’t and was trying to play it cool. A gorgeous, sunny winter day and our dog, Winnie, came along for the adventure. We were both feeling energized from the mountain air. We stopped many times on the way to take in the views, feeling so lucky to be able to do things like this together. We always feel closest when we are enjoying time together outdoors. This is why it was so perfect when, as we sat at our destination taking in the beauty, he came over to me on one knee. I could hardly believe what was happening when he pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. As if the exercise and fresh air endorphins weren’t enough, now we were both truly on cloud nine.”
