There are so many trends in the wedding gown industry right now that highlighting just five would be like trying to pin down The Hemline that's au current. So I figured since I'm the writer, I get to highlight some of my favorite gowns of the season.

Go big, or don't go mermaid

Go big, or don't go mermaid

Sometime around January, we were asked to participate in a poll about our predictions for 2011 wedding trends. One of the questions asked the 2010 trends we were most tired of, and hoping to see disappear in 2011. I responded "mermaid gowns." (Before you blow up our Facebook page, recognize that this is my personal opinion. I prefer funky, couture cut gowns that border on the vintage edge.) Then today, this email landed in my inbox from Etsy:

Gray...It's the new White

Gray...It's the new White

One of the trends we saw a lot of in 2010 was splashes of color incorporated into bridal looks - sashes on gowns, brightly hued shoes, fun hair accessories. We're starting to see an entirely different, daring trend emerge in 2011: gowns made of something other than white.
