We've put together a group of local experts to impart some advice for couples -- what's hot and what's not and how to plan and host the perfect wedding that won't break the bank. The theme of the season seems to be 'Do It Your Way'...
-- Not a One Size Fits All Approach
Mark, a partner with 30-year-old Boulder jeweler, Walters & Hogsett Fine Jewelers, is seeing a trend toward couples customizing their rings for their lifestyle -- lower settings for outdoor enthusiasts, alternative metals like rose gold, palladium and titanium or natural colored stones and diamonds. Couples can work with a local jeweler to select and design online, using software to customize signature looks. This personalization is also part of wedding gifts – for bridesmaids jewelry and wedding party gifts.

-- Eco-Chic Receptions
Joanie, an event planner at Greens Point Catering, says more couples and caterers are going green -- using biodegradable or compostable dishware from bamboo or fallen leaves for cocktails or desert and doing away with party favors that often get left behind in lieu of donations in the guests names to a charity.
-- Thoughtful Spending
Heather, owner of Calluna Events, is seeing more and more couples sticking to a budget while creating a distinct event -- serving local beer and wine and perhaps a signature instead of an open bar, ditching the champagne toast and have people toast with what’s in their hands, choosing florals that are in season and in bloom.
